“DON’T WORRY WHEN YOU ARE NOT RECOGNIZED, BUT STRIVE TO BE WORTHY OF RECOGNITION.” - ABRAHAM LINCOLN
In 2012, I rode - for the second time - 30,000 miles on my BMW GS Adventure 1200 from Santiago to New York City.
On September 1, I left Chile and arrived in New York City on December 17, only 2 days behind schedule.
Like most of my motorcycle expeditions, this was a solo trip. I visited and interviewed premium wine producers from Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico and the United States. Along the route, I filmed uncharted Terroirs to find out the typicity of those wines.
So far, it’s been the most challenging motorcycle expedition ever. I had two major mechanical breakdowns, I smuggled my bike into a country in Central America, and rode from NYC to Miami under heavy rain in 4 days, exhausted and starving as a stray dog.
My flight back to Chile was canceled. However, American Airlines put me on a new flight the next day (Dec 23) and made it back home to spend Christmas with my son, as I promised.
