This mountain lies near Santiago, Chile, nestled within the mighty Andes Mountain range.
It’s a two-hour drive from Santiago to the Valle Nevado ski resort. From there, we hopped into a 4x4 truck, and within 30 minutes, the entire team reached Tres Puntas (Three Points), where our duffel bags were loaded onto a mule.
We hiked along a single track for about 4 hours, stopping for a 30-minute gourmet lunch. The trek included crossing a narrow river with a strong current. By early afternoon, we reached Federación base camp.
Our group consisted of 20 climbers, all guided by www.rimaya.cl. They handled everything—from food (yes, wine included!) to tents. Their service was exceptional, their team highly experienced, and the group was truly amazing.
I’ve always believed that high-altitude mountaineering pushes you to your limits, but the rewards are priceless. Reaching the summit is a remarkable achievement, but it’s the people you meet along the way and the camaraderie that truly make the difference. In fact, some of these connections turn into lifelong friendships.
